How to Write a Great Blog Post? |Write a Perfect Blog Post for Your Website|

INTRODUCTION TO GREAT BLOGGING:

How to Write a Great Blog Post?|Blog Post|
Want to know how to write a Perfect Blog Post? One of the key things is that your reader walks away with something new or something told in a new way. When you sit down to write a post, think of your reader. What do you think will help him or her? What will engage your reader?

There are a host of great bloggers pumping outposts into cyberspace. If you are focused on Internet marketing and marketing in general, great blogs can be read by Seth Godin or from blogger Michael Dunlop and Nick Tart at Income Diary. And there are the useful blog posts of Darren Rowse at Problogger and Chris Garrett at ChrisG.com. Read their blogs. Learn from their blogs.

How long?

There is no fixed formula. You can write long blog posts at 2,000 words or go really short at 200 words, as Seth Godin does. But the latter takes real skill and a great message. A good “how-to” blog post can run to 2,000 words. That would cover all the main bases of a subject or issue you are trying to communicate. But short-and-sharp pieces also have their place. Seth is a genius in getting over his point in a short post.

Help your reader

Your reader ideally wants to walk away after reading your post feeling they have learned something. Offering practical advice is good, advice that they can put into action. Nine times out of 10, they are coming to you because they have a problem they want to be solved. Try to offer a step-by-step guide or a way to solve a particular problem. For example, if they are having a problem thinking up ideas to blog about, teach them how to brainstorm – provide steps A, B, C, D, and E.

Engage your reader

Try to engage the reader in terms of providing useful advice but also doing it in a way that is readable and interesting. Examples and anecdotes, showing how the information can be used, is a way to draw the reader in but also for them to remember the “lesson.”

Throw in some illustrations and occasionally a breakout quote. This helps to make the blog post look interesting and breaks up having long screeds of text.

“E-commerce is an evolution. Don’t have to get everything right immediately; you can learn from it.”

Lauren Freedom, the E-tailing Group, Inc.

Put in sub-headings to help guide the reader through. Keep in mind that many readers just skim through and that sub-headings help them to quickly navigate through and to get the message you are trying to convey.

Offer something different

Try when possible to offer the reader something different or to take a different approach to a subject. This is not always easy.

Try, try, try

Much of the success of a blog post, and your blog or website will come down to you mastering what you are blogging about. Often this comes down to creativity and persistence. Try, try, try – and you may get there.
