How To Use Keywords In An Article

How To Use Keywords In An Article | Best Keyword research for writing SEO rich Articles |Learning how to use keywords in an article can greatly impact your search engine results. The good news is, it’s pretty easy to do. Once you’ve placed them in a couple of strategically chosen locations, you can naturally write your content and you don’t need to think about them.

Placing Your Keywords

How To Use Keywords In An Article | Best Keyword research for writing SEO rich Articles |For this example, I’m going to show you how I place my chosen keyword phrases within my WordPress sites. WordPress is the only CMS (content management system) I use and I only write articles for my own sites. Article directories are not as effective as they once were and I like to have total control over my content.

Creating New Page On WordPress Or Blogger.

How To Use Keywords In An Article | Best Keyword research for writing SEO rich Articles |When you create a new page or post in WordPress, the first thing you’ll want to do is create a title with your targeted keyword phrase. The image above is a snapshot from my WordPress editor for the article you are reading now. You can see that WordPress automatically creates a permalink for this article. A permalink is simply your domain URL followed by the article title. The yellow highlighted area shows a condensed version. The entire link will be seen when it shows up in the search engines.

Place your keyword phrase in the first paragraph.

(Anywhere within the first paragraph is fine) After that, I don’t think about how to use that exact keyword phrase again. If it fits naturally within the article elsewhere, that’s fine but I don’t try to “stuff” it into the article.

What About Keyword Density?

How To Use Keywords In An Article | Best Keyword research for writing SEO rich Articles |Keyword density was a popular buzzword within the internet marketing community for a few years. It was believed that your exact keyword phrase needed to encompass a certain percentage of the total content within your article. Some said 1%. Some said as high as 5%. This was just one method in a long line of methods that were used by internet marketers to try and “game the system”.

When a large enough group of people work to game the system, the search engines simply change the rules and many people lose their rankings overnight! If you want to avoid this problem, don’t play games with the search engines! Let them know what your article is about the methods described in this article, and focus on writing quality, informative articles. It works for me and many of my friends in this business.

How To Choose Great Keywords

How To Use Keywords In An Article | Best Keyword research for writing SEO rich Articles |Which keywords you choose are just as important (if not more important) than where you place your keywords. I say this because if you are using an overly-competitive keyword phrase, it will be hard to get a good ranking no matter how SEO friendly your article is!

That’s why when it comes to selecting my keyword phrases, I tend to play in the shallow end of the pool so to speak. What I mean by that is, I choose keyword phrases that get a fairly low but still decent amount of monthly searches with very low competition. I may use keyword phrases with as little as 50 searches per month but, if there are less than 20 competing pages (which is fairly common) I am almost guaranteed to be on the first page of Google!

Focus on Long-Tail Keywords

How To Use Keywords In An Article | Best Keyword research for writing SEO rich Articles |Long-tail keywords are generally considered to be keyword phrases with 3 or more words in them. (Like the article you are reading now for example) There are 2 main advantages that I see to using long-tail keyword phrases.

1.)Usually Less Competition
2.)More Likely To Rank For Keyword Variations

Because long-tail keyword phrases don’t have very high search volume (with a few exceptions), there are usually far fewer people targeting those phrases. Let the majority fight for the big traffic while I quietly and steadily build my traffic with low competition, long-tail keywords are my philosophy.

Trickle Down Effect:

How To Use Keywords In An Article | Best Keyword research for writing SEO rich Articles |Once your article achieves a high ranking in the search engines, you will likely rank for several variations of that phrase. Phrases you would probably never have thought to target. For example; on one of my other sites, I targeted a 7-word keyword phrase. While the search volume was not great, that article is on the first page of Google for no less than a dozen variations of that phrase!
